“Loving God”

Mark 12:30 is a very clear verse in the Bible, it says…
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”  I am no genius but I think most people would agree that Jesus is telling us we need to really, really, really love God.  In the Star Trek series they Captain and crew had orders to go where no man has gone before.  However, in doing this mission they also had a prime directive that they had to follow.

A starship captain’s most solemn oath is that he will give his life, even his entire crew, rather than violate the Prime Directive.” – James T. Kirk The Prime Directive, also known as Starfleet General Order 1 or the Non-Interference Directive, was the embodiment of one of Starfleet’s most important ethical principles: noninterference with other cultures and civilizations. At its core was the philosophical concept that covered personnel should refrain from interfering in the natural, unassisted, development of societies, even if such interference was well-intentioned. The Prime Directive was viewed as so fundamental to Starfleet that officers swore to uphold thePrime Directive, even at the cost of their own life or the lives of their crew.  (Source Star Trek Wiki)

As you can see the Prime Directive was upheld at any cost.  Mark 12:30 can be seen as the Christian’s Prime Directive.  Above all else we need to maintain our love and relationship for and with God.  How serious are you about this “Prime Directive”?  If you are still breathing than it is not too late to bring that directive back to being prime in your life!  Pastor Shawn
