Spring of the Soul

Spring has finally started to emerge.  It certainly was a long cold winter, with lots of snow this year.  One of the things about living in upstate ny, you definitely get to experience all of the seasons.  Of all the changes I think we long for Spring the most.  Why?  It follows a long period of gray skies, dark evenings, bitter cold days, dead trees and plant life and a sense of dormancy and gloom.  But, ahhh… spring has sprung.  With it comes a promise of new life, blue skies, plenty of warmth and sunshine, the trees and flowers begin to come back to life, and we gain a sense of hope, well being and promise of good days ahead.  Well Life often mimics the natural world.  All too often we struggle with the same elements of dormancy and gloom in our souls. However, we can experience a Spring of the Soul.  The scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!”  Just like spring after a long cold winter, new life emerges.  So as we celebrate this new season, let us not forget the new season Jesus made available for our souls.  –Pastor Shawn Harnish
